Five Love Languages

Five Love Languages Reviewed by Siobhan Collier

The Power of a Praying Wife, by Stormie Omartian, has been an amazing prayer tool. Each chapter is small and is about a specific need or struggle our husband may be dealing with and is ended with a prayer and scriptures relating to the need. She stresses the importance of praying for our husband's struggles instead of trying to "help" change them. The book also highlights aspects of our hearts and helps address our reactions to the way our husband might deal with his weaknesses. Personally, I have noticed a difference in my prayer life, how I relate to my husband, and seen prayers answered! A few times a week I just spend 15-20 minutes a day reading one chapter, spending time in prayer, and then meditating on the scripture. I highly recommend this book for any wife as, I feel, it speaks to any marriage. So, whether you are newly married, celebrating your 50th, or somewhere in between, this book will make a wonderful addition to your shelf! Not to mention, it is great as a wedding gift (that's how I got it)!

Out of the Silent Planet Reviewed by Julia Fulton

"Out of The Silent Planet" by C.S. Lewis is a captivating tale of a man who unwillingly goes on a journey to another planet and discovers things and creatures he couldn't ever have imagined and after meeting and engaging with the creatures, needs to find a way home. I should say that I enjoyed this book very much. It is interesting and unlike any book I've read. And with an author like C.S. Lewis, you know that there are many lessons and values hidden inside that keep your mind wandering. Plus, if you're a fan of trilogies, this book is the preceding to two other books in the Space Trilogy.

Chasing Daylight

Chasing Daylight Reviewed by Jennifer Paolozzi

Chasing Daylight by Erwin McManus is a call to action in our Christian walk. He challenges the reader to not just sit back but turn your life into an adventure with God. McManus weaves personal stories and the Biblical account of Jonathan and his shield bearer attacking the Philistine camp as a model to seizing the day. You will be challenged to step out in your faith. McManus writes, “This relationship between faith and uncertainty is inescapable. What required faith for your yesterday may become commonplace for you tomorrow. Once something is a certainty, it no longer requires faith. Do not be surprised that what God asked of you yesterday is insufficient for your journey of faith today.”
